Essiac Tea was first used in the 1920’s by a nurse named Rene Caisse who administered the herb to many of her cancer patients with very promising results. Despite attempts to introduce Essiac Tea as a mainstream cancer treatment, it remains an unregulated treatment, in spite of positive anecdotal reports.

The various components of Essiac Tea are known to stimulate the immune system, reduce free radical activity, reduce inflammation, prevent tumour growth, detoxify the body and sooth respiratory afflictions.

Essiac Tea is composed of the following herbs:

Sheep Sorrel – immune modulating, anti-tumour

Burdock Root – improves detoxification, increases elimination, blood purifier

Slippery Elm Bark – soothes mucous membranes: respiratory, digestive, urinary

Turkey Rhubarb Root – laxative, prevents fever, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial.

While Essiac Tea is a stand out treatment for cancer, it has many other benefits including reducing inflammation throughout the body, boosting the immune system, stimulating digestion, improving metabolism, treating respiratory illnesses and healing skin conditions.

Before taking Essiac Tea, it is important to ensure that you don’t have an allergy to any of the components. Side effects of Essiac Tea may include nausea, vomiting, headaches, frequent urination, muscle aches and weakness.
